I spent time with actor Ruben Gonzalez the other day inside El Teatro Campesino in San Juan Bautista, Calif. The theater was founded by Luis Valdez as the cultural arm of the United Farm Workers. The theater, and the small town of San Juan Bautista are really funky and cool and filled with a lot of history. I lived there for about 4 months while working as a photo intern at a great little paper called the Pinnacle.
In these photos Gonzalez wears the costume of Daniel, the main character in his one man play “La Esquinita” The play debuts at the theater on April 15 and he is also co-starring in the upcoming Benjamin Bratt film “La Mission”.
